A guitarist

I can't help it, I play the guitar. I think that if I didn't manage to become an astronomer, I'd probably have joined or created a heavy-metal band. Some people who know me still find it hard to believe that I am a heavy-metal fan...

While I do not currently play in a band, I enjoy music very much and sometimes find the time to record stuff. While in Provence, with significantly more free time as a grad-student to practice my music, I recorded a couple tracks with fellow musician astronomer Jérôme Schmidt, inspired by the desserts his girlfriend Sophie would sometimes bake. Some of these instrumental songs are not too bad, and some day, I might post these "Pâtisseries de Sophie" here...

Then, I discovered GarageBand on the Mac, and started recording some new things (covers and originals). The latest of my tunes if called C-4, and I am pretty proud of how it sounds!

Song #TitleInfo
1C-4 Original song recorded in August 2009. Positive vibes, simple stuff but catchy. I really like how the harmony works here: it gives me the goosebumps when the taping part ends and overdub guitar merges in the resolution of the song.
2 Bright Eyes This is a song by an excellent German Heavy Metal band called Blind Guardian, which I recorded in January 2010. I've been working for quite some time on this piece which I think is representative of their sound. The drum/bass comes from a midi file I downloaded online. There are some technically challenging parts in the song and the solo is pretty wild, hence a few slips here and there.
3 Apero II This is one of the tracks that is part of the Pâtisseries de Sophie which I recorded with Jérôme Schmidt while in Provence, some time in 2004, maybe?
