How to load observation operation file (*.ope) on the summit computer system 2001.03.17 Y.Komiyama 2003.06.29 Y.Komiyama 2004.11.10 H.Furusawa 2006 08.11 H.Furusawa Remote Observation From Hilo Your ope file needs to be located in a designated directory on the workstation at **Summit**. Please complete this by following the procedure below. .1 Login to the workstation called HANA or HANA2 (left side to hows[1,2,3]). Observer can use this workstation freely for quick look and simple reduction and analysis at the Hilo remote observation room. User ID (u0xxxx) and Password for logging on HANA[2] can be found in your observation kit distributed by Operation Center (Tomoko-san). .2 Telnet(or SSH) to the workstation ANA (this machine is located at the summit) with the same account as on HANA (u0xxxx). .3 On a prompt of ANA (!!Not HANA), Change directory to "~/Procedure". .4 Transfer your observation procedure (ope) file to here (ANA: ~/Procedure/) using FTP or SFTP/SCP. The ope file must have the extention of ".ope". .5 Change file permission and make sure that your ope file is editable. % chmod 664 xxx.ope(your ope file) Notes: You may directly edit the ope file here, too. Please make a copy of the file before you start editing it. You cannot connect from your laptop to ANA directly. Please connect (sftp/ftp/ssh/telnet) from ANA to your laptop. Alternatively, please transfer your files by way of a g-workstation, which can be accessible from both ANA and your laptop. .6 You can check syntax errors in your ope file using a UNIX command check_proc. % check_proc xxx.ope(your ope file) .7 Ask instrument operator to load the ope file. If there is an error, a pop-up window appears and tells you where you find the error. Correct and try to load it again. .8 Ask instrument operator to reload the ope file when you have edited the ope file. Note: Your ope file should be loaded on ANA at the summit, not on HANA in Hilo. FYI: If you want to use mule, try /opt/share/bin/mule If you want to usr xhost+, try /usr/openwin/bin/xhost If you want to use tcsh, try /usr/local/bin/tcsh
