Subaru Users’ Meeting
FY2015
January 19 (Tue) - 21 (Thu), 2016
It has been 15 years since the start of the science operation at the Subaru Telescope. The construction of the Thirty Meter Telescope has began and the Subaru community is now in a transition phase. This phase is an extremely important phase for us to think about our future science. In parallel to the developments on the ground, powerful space-based facilities are being planned/developed and the landscape of observational astronomy in the 2020's is rapidly emerging. We will have to change the way we use Subaru in order to achieve unique science in the 2020's. The recently started large observing program with Hyper Suprime-Cam represents the community’s future direction - we will use Subaru as a survey facility.
We invite you to join the discussion on how we coordinate (not compete!) with the future facilities and make the best use of Subaru in the coming decade. We also encourage you to present your scientific work at the meeting. We reserve ample time for presentations, discussions, and... hot spring bathing! As in the FY2014 meeting, English is the official language of the meeting.
