Members of stellar systems are coeval and have formed from the same nebula, so they should have started as chemically identical. The main goal of this project is to test the chemical homogeneity of binary pairs to a level that was unthinkable before, taking advantage of the line-to-line differential technique that is allowing us to achieve very high-precision abundance determinations (sigma<0.01 dex). Any difference in the rocky-forming elements within the pairs could be related to the formation of planetary systems or events of planetary engulfment. Our proposal will provide the excellent opportunity to improve our understandings on the possible connection between the stellar composition and the formation/evolution of planetary systems.
