Huge volume tomographic survey in the SSA22 proto-cluster with Keck/DEIMOS

(Abstract)
We propose wide-field medium-resolution spectroscopy with Keck/DEIMOS toward 
the SSA22 field in order to reveal (i) the correlation between galaxies and 
H{i} in the intergalactic medium (IGM) in three-dimensional space 
quantitatively and (ii) the circumgalactic medium (CGM) of Lyman break 
galaxies (LBGs), Lyalpha emitters (LAEs), and Lyalpha blobs (LABs) in various 
galaxy environments, by using about 900 spectra of LBGs at 3<z<5. 
Regarding (i), we will depict the H{i} three dimensional distribution in the 
known proto-cluster at z=3.1 in the field by two independent methods we have 
developed, using spectra of background galaxies. Regarding (ii), we will 
analyze the same spectra of background galaxies as a function of the projected 
distance from galaxies, in particular LAEs and LABs, in the proto-cluster and 
depict the radial dependence of H{i} and some metal absorptions in the CGM of 
these galaxies. In addition to the z=3.1 proto-cluster, we have found some 
other galaxy overdensities and voids along the sight-line. Extending the LBG 
spectroscopy up to z~5.5, we will reveal, for the first time, the IGM H{i}-
galaxy correlation in these structures and the CGM of various galaxies in 
various environments at 3<z<5.
