(Proposal ID) S11B-017 (PI) Ohsawa, Ryou (Proposal Title) Quest for Evidence of Hydrogenation of PAHs in Evolved PNe (Abstract) In this proposal, we focus on PAHs in the circumstellar matter in planetary nebular (PN), as a bridge between interstellar and circumstellar environments. Previous studies discovered the differences in the band profiles between interstellar PAHs and circumstellar PAHs. From the observations by the AKARI/ Infrared Camera (IRC) and the Spitzer/Infrared Spectrograph (IRS), we find that the relative intensity of the 3.4mum band to the 3.3mum band increase for evolved PNe. We propose that the hydrogenation process proceeds on PAHs in evolved PNe. The 12.6mum band, which arises from C-H bonds, could prove or disprove the hypothesis. However, the spectral resolution of the Spitzer spectra is not high enough to derive the intensity of the 12.6mum band precisely. Thus, we propose to observe with the Subaru/COMICS. With the spectral resolution of the Subaru/COMICS, we can derive the intensity of the 12.6 mum band properly without the contamination from [Ne ii] 12.81mum. The high spatial resolution of Subaru Telescope will enable us to discuss where the PAH processing occurs. The results obtained by this program will make a great contribution to understanding the PAH life-cycle and the material circulation in the Universe.
