Observation Compensation and Dome Operation policies

Observation can be canceled by bad weather (winter storm, high wind, high humidity, earthquake, etc.) and unexpected serious telescope or instrument trouble. The night canceled due to bad weather will not be compensated. If telescope or instrument troubles occur one day before the observation, the observatory will do the best effort to compensate the observation in the same semester as much as possible. If the telescope and instrument troubles occur in the observation day and night, it will not be compensated.

The telescope dome will be closed with high humidity (> 80%) or high wind ( > 20 m/s). If humidity is starting to decrease below 80%, then the operator will wait and watch for 15 min for safety. The operator will do a visual check of outside weather (passing clouds, any snowflake, big-dust in the air, etc.) and decide whether it is safe to open the dome or not.

After winter storm or severe weather situation (including earthquakes), telescope engineering division or day crew should do safety checks of the telescope dome at first. If there is any safety issue, then the safety issue should be solved before the dome is opened.
