FOCAS and Subaru telescope will be operated based on the "Operation Procedure File".
Following information is required to make the procedure file. Observers are asked to give the information before the observing night to the observatory staff, who will make a final operation procedure file based on the information provided by the observers.
Do not worry! The contents can be changed even during the observation, just before executing the command. Note, however, it is much better to prepare the procedure files before the beginning of the observation for a smooth operation during the night.
Please copy the following two sections of
templates (Object list and Observing commands)
into your editor, and modify them
(add/delete/modify lines according to your purpose) with the FOCAS
operation keywords and standard star list. Send
your object list and observing
commands to SA (hattori@subaru.naoj.org).
For details of each command, see here.
The settings are made of the following categories.
Modify the templates by substituting '(...)' from the keyword list.
[Template] OBJ_OBJ1=Object="OBJECT NAME 1" RA=123456.7 DEC=-123456.7 Equinox=2000.0 InsRot_PA=45
--->
[Modified] OBJ_NGC1234=Object="NGC 1234" RA=123456.7 DEC=-123456.7 Equinox=2000.0 InsRot_PA=12.3[Meaning ] Define object alias "OBJ_NGC1234" as the target (NGC 1243) whose coordinates are RA=12h34m56.7s DEC=-12d34m56.7s and the position angle of the slit (or image) is 12.3 degree from the north (toward east).[Template] SetupField $DEF_IMAG $MASK_NONE $FILTER_(FILTER) $OBJ_(YOUR_TARGET) SHIFT_SEC=(POINTING_OFFSET_ARCSEC) AUTOGUIDE=(YES OR NO)
--->
[Modified] SetupField $DEF_IMAG $MASK_NONE $FILTER_NONE $PSTD_SA92_245 SHIFT_SEC=-20 AUTOGUIDE=YES
[Meaning ] Move the telescope to SA92_245 (as defined in the standard star list) for target acquisition. The target will be placed at 20 arcsec toward chip 2 from the CCD gap. A guide star acquisition will be done in this command.
[Template] GetStandard $DEF_IMAG $FILTER_(FILTER) $CCD_(BINNING) $PSTD_STAR1 Exptime=(EXPTIME)--->[Modified] GetStandard $DEF_IMAG $FILTER_BB_R $CCD_1X1 $PSTD_SA92_245 Exptime=5[Meaning ] Expose the target (SA92_245) for 5 sec through a broadband R filter with a CCD binning of 1X1.
