Combination of optics for each observing mode

Using the SOSS commands, you should only specify the observing modes to select a slit, a lens, filters, and a grating. However, it will be useful if you understand normal combinations of the optics. You can specify some different combination under your special observing request. In that case, you must specify filters and other optical modules.

You may remove the N-wide filter (F01C10.50W6.00) at the fore-optics filter wheel. However, the slow readout method different from the original design, which is employed to avoid non-linear response of the detectors, causes too rapid saturation of the detectors without the N-wide filter. When you observe with some narrow band filters at fore-optics filter wheel, you sometimes can't choose N-wide for fore-filter because it is installed in the same filter wheel as the filter you want.

You may put some Q-wide filters at the fore-optics filter wheels in addition to the imaging filters. Although you may also use the Q-wide filters at the fore-optics filter wheels without the Q-band imaging filters, it will lead to rapid saturation of detectores and you may required to reduce the real integration time (observing efficiency) without changing the real observing time.
