IntroductionThe Coronagraphic Imager with Adaptive Optics (CIAO) is primarily designed for the detection of faint objects near much brighter ones via the use of occulting masks. It can, however, also be used as a general purpose high-resolution near-infrared imager, with pixel scales of 12 mas and 22 mas. Linear polarimetry with JHK halfwave plate and wiregrid is also available.
