Here we announce the status of the Subaru Telescope, as of May 8, 2018, after the M 6.9 earthquake and its aftershocks occurred in the afternoon on May 4, 2018.
- Damage to the enclosure was found during the initial inspection.
- Careful investigation of the overall impact on the telescope will continue for some time.
- Therefore the observations have been canceled until the night of May 17, 2018.
- The summit facility tour program scheduled on May 9, 10 and 15, 2018 has also been canceled.
