Submillimetre observations

Submillimetre observations of the SXDS will be undertaken as part of the multi-wavelength effort. Observations will commence in August 2002 with the Submillimetre Common-User Bolometer Array (SCUBA) on the James Clerk Maxwell Telescope (JCMT) as part of a major collaboration involving a large fraction of the UK extragalactic submm community. This survey will cover 0.25 sq. deg. of the SXDS field to a detection threshold of ~10 mJy at 850 um (a similar area will be covered in the Lockman Hole).

Shorter-wavelength observations (250 and 350 um) are planned with the Balloon-borne Large Aperture Submillimetre Telescope (BLAST).
