Places of the Symposium:
Fukuoka International Congress Center and
Fukuoka Science Museum
Fukuoka city is located at the western part of Japan. You can reach Fukuoka
by ship (from Pusan, Korea) or airplane (directly from many cities in the east
Asia. A transit at Taipei or Seoul is also convenient).
Money Exchange
Best place to change your money is the Fukuoka Airport International
Terminal. In Fukuoka city, you can change money at Fukuoka Bank which is one of
the major banks in Fukuoka. Fukuoka Bank’s business hours are from 9:00 a.m. to
3:00 p.m. on weekdays. Note that Oct. 8 (Monday) is a holiday in Japan and banks
in town are closed. You can exchange money only at the airport on Oct. 8.
How to get to your hotel from the airport/seaport

We do not offer private transportation
from/to the airport or seaport. Print the PDF file and take it with you. If you
have a difficulty in opening a PDF file containing Japanese characters,
try the one without Japanese fonts. You can also download a zip file
that contains all the instruction pages in JPEG format. All the PDF and
ZIP files include
instructions to reach the conference dinner venue (Nishitetsu Grand
Hotel) from Fukuoka International Congress Center.
Climate
Typhoon 15 or 'Krosa' may approach Fukuoka during the conference. Please
keep an eye on the track of typhoon.

Weather News
Temperature in Fukuoka was record high this
summer and it continues at this time. For several days in late September, the high temperature was over 30℃.
However, night temperature fell down to about 20℃. We do not know yet how the
weather will be during the conference. But proper clothing that covers wide
range of temperature from 20℃ to 30℃ is suggested. It may rain during your stay.
You can buy a small umbrella at a convenience store near the conference venue by
500 JPY. October is a typhoon season in Japan. Although there is no forecast for
imminent strike of typhoon at this moment, you can keep it in mind that a typhoon may affect our conference schedule as well as traffic schedules. Please check
weather in Fukuoka before you leave your home.
Mobile Phone
Some of you may consider to bring your own mobile phone in Fukuoka.
Unfortunately, mobile phone network in Japan is so much advanced (!?)
that there is no compatibility with mobile phones used in the rest of
the world (No GSM, no Korean CDMA). If you need a cell phone in Japan,
check with your carrier in your country to see if you can rent a
compatible cell phone before you leave your country. You may rent a cell
phone at Fukuoka International Airport. Reservation may be necessary.
Please search the Web for further information.
Electricity
100V, 60Hz. "A" type (See below). Many receptacles do not have a hole
for the ground (Top round one). You may need an adapter to convert a
three-pin A-Type plug to a two-pin A-Type plug + ground wire (See
below).
